William G. Edwards - #AFOW

Today, I am featuring author William G Edwards whose story "Little White Poodle" is included in the anthology "A Flash of Words," alongside my own brand-new story, "Takin' Pictures."

If you had to do one thing differently with your story, what would it be? I’m pretty satisfied with the story as is. If I was to do anything different, I would be more descriptive.

What was the inspiration for your story? I was sitting in bed one night editing a Werewolf story I'd been working on. It was getting late and I wanted to do something different, so I asked my wife if she thought I could turn cuddly poodles into killer's

Was there a time when writing where you had to sit back stunned at what just happened? If so, what was it? This story was originally for practice and a challenge, but I liked it and decided to submit it.

What do you think is the key to writing a compelling flash story? Just start writing and see where it takes you.

Do you write every day? Mostly editing right now. I'm working on 3 books and a couple short stories.

Does your sexual orientation play a roll in the development of your character? no

Was this the first time you wrote a flash fiction story? Yes and my first submission.

What was your favorite story in the book besides your own?

Apart from writing, what do you do for fun? Spending time with family, or playing video games on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. When I have my Xbox live account active, I usually like to play multiplayer on Red Dead Redemption and Battlefield 1.

Which author(s) influenced your writing the most? No one particular.

Can you relate to any of the characters in your flash fiction story? No.

What is your writing space like? I have a small office, but spend most of my time writing in the living room or kitchen with the kids running around.

Did your story turn out the way you planned, or were there some surprises along the way? I really had no set plans for my story other than having killer Poodles. I just started writing and let it go where it wanted.

How long did it take to write your story? About an hour. I wrote it while watching tv in bed.

Do you think writing flash fiction is a challenge with the word restriction? Sometimes it’s hard to find the end to a story before going over the word count.

If you were on death row, what would you want your last meal to be? Tacos
