Today, I am featuring author William G Edwards whose story "Little White Poodle" is included in the anthology "A Flash of Words," alongside my own brand-new story, "Takin' Pictures."
1: If you had to do one thing differently with your story, what would it be?
I’m pretty satisfied with the story as is. If I was to do anything different, I would be more descriptive.
2: What was the inspiration for your story?
I was sitting in bed one night editing a Werewolf story I'd been working on. It was getting late and I wanted to do something different, so I asked my wife if she thought I could turn cuddly poodles into killer's
3: Was there a time when writing where you had to sit back stunned at what just happened? If so, what was it?
This story was originally for practice and a challenge, but I liked it and decided to submit it.
4: What do you think is the key to writing a compelling flash story?
Just start writing and see where it takes you.
5: Do you write every day?
Mostly editing right now. I'm working on 3 books and a couple short stories.
6: Does your sexual orientation play a roll in the development of your character?
no
7: Was this the first time you wrote a flash fiction story?
Yes and my first submission.
8: What was your favorite story in the book besides your own?
9: Apart from writing, what do you do for fun?
Spending time with family, or playing video games on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. When I have my Xbox live account active, I usually like to play multiplayer on Red Dead Redemption and Battlefield 1.
10: Which author(s) influenced your writing the most?
No one particular.
11: Can you relate to any of the characters in your flash fiction story?
No.
12: What is your writing space like?
I have a small office, but spend most of my time writing in the living room or kitchen with the kids running around.
13: Did your story turn out the way you planned, or were there some surprises along the way?
I really had no set plans for my story other than having killer Poodles. I just started writing and let it go where it wanted.
14: How long did it take to write your story?
About an hour. I wrote it while watching tv in bed.
15: Do you think writing flash fiction is a challenge with the word restriction?
Sometimes it’s hard to find the end to a story before going over the word count.
16: If you were on death row, what would you want your last meal to be?
Tacos
